Gary Ross, corporate vice president for global manufacturing and sourcing at apparel company Liz Claibourne Inc  believes that safeguards measures used for curbing Chinese originated products will continue after 2008, but probably in some other form.
US domestic producers are said to be capable of tightening free trade definitions on the import market, with textile industry lobbyists studying alternatives for maintaining barriers on China-made clothes and fabrics that they fear could overwhelm the US domestic market. EU invoked similar measures that are due to expire by the end of 2007.
