First Film Fashion Festival in Berlin
The first edition of the World Fashion Film Festival in Berlin took place on January 30th, 2008, in the Kosmos theatre during the Berlin Fashion Week during an evening event where the Berlin fashion world met with the support of the City of Berlin, the Senat and the mayor of Berlin, Mr. Klaus Wowereit, for the German K-I-D-S association collecting money for the creation of a school in Ouganda. www.k-i-d-s.org.
For the first time, Fashion, Film, Music and Philanthropy have been combined in one event, a new way to present fashion.Under the theme “What inspires U”, designers around the world have been asked to create a 3 minute clip. They were asked to present themselves, their image, their style and their signature with stories or music clips. Everything but a traditional fashion show was encouraged.“The aim is to help emerging brands to exploit other ways of presentation than fashion shows, too expensive, or showrooms, also to expensive at the beginning of their career… A clip can circulate everywhere and can be sent like a virtual business card to all: buyers and media” dixit Claudia Carillon, a German journalist living in France qui created this event as well as the International Designers Network website, a database with more than 2.500 designers worldwide.A  prominent jury of experts from fashion, movie and music have audited the 21 clips coming from all continents. The Designer nominated by the jury are for the categories womenswear and the best video clip is Bogomir Doringer, a young Serbian designer living in Amsterdam. The price offered is a sewing machine from Pfaff ‘creative 2170’ with a value of approximately 6.000€. The price for the best menswear collection and the music price have been offered to the collection q.e.d. from Berlin, which belongs to 3 young designers: Julia Böge, Simona Gabrieli and Jasmin Maollim. The price is a window display mannequin from Penther, Germany. After this show, all participating clips will be presented around the world during fashion fairs and events. Up from End of February they can be seen on www.fashionguide-tv.com. During the fashion week in Paris they will be presented by Workshop in the Hotel Regina and the Cercle Républicain as well as in the Workshop Tokyo at Aoyama Bell Commons in April. End of March the clips can been seen during the Asian Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) in the Designer department. Other presentations are in discussion. With these virtual business cards designers from Lima can meet buyers and journalists from Berlin and Hollywood or all around Asia and make their promotion at a very little price.
